My
niece Jasmine is finally here! :) I got a chance to see her tonight
at the hospital, only 6 hours after she was born. Needless to say,
our entire family is elated and glad that both baby and mommy are
doing well. I received a phone call around 3:30pm today from my
brother informing us that not only were they already at the hospital
but the baby had already been born! =:o I guess it all works out
for the better since none of us needed to sit around and wait while
they go through those torturous pre-epidural linda blair in the
exorcist type of pain. It wouldn't have been a pretty sight.
But
Jasmine is indeed a pretty sight to me because I've never seen a
newborn so hot and fresh out of the oven before. Like I said before,
I hardly have any friends who have children and if they do, they
are already walking and being a menace to society. Kidding! Oddly
enough, I thought newborn babies were supposed to be more crinkly
and wrinkled like a shar-pei when they come into the world. Or maybe
it's just that all the babies they show on The Baby Story are that
way. :x But my niece (weird typing this word) is such an interesting
sight to behold because she is part of my flesh and part of my blood.

She
weighed in at 7 pounds 8 ounces and is 19 inches long. And the girl
has LARGE hands and feet!! She arrived at 1:10pm after only 10 hours
of labor, pretty impressive for a first baby and she's doing just
fine. She has dark dark brown almost black hair with some strands
ending in blonde highlights. I guess she won't be needing those
trips to the salon like I do. She's got em au natural calico
hair. *wink* She also has grey blue eyes right now (so they
tell me). They say some of her features look like me but I guess
we'll have to wait and see about that when she gets older. But the
one thing that's JUST like me is the whole head of hair she has
when she was born. I had the exact same thing too. Let's just hope
she doesn't get that nasty premature graying gene that all my siblings
and I have passed onto her.

The
poor gal has a lil conehead ala SNL's Conehead at the moment since
the doctor had to suction her out due to some difficulty wedging
her big hands and shoulders out. But it should return to normal
later. She also developed a slight injury to her collarbone and
a tad bit of bruising due to the whole trauma during her passage
down towards the light at the end of the tunnel. ;P But she'll be
fine.

The
very happy yet tired parents. :)
[notice my generous use of the "blur" effect to soften
the exaggeration of their tired panda eyes. my SIL is actually glowing
but my bro looks kinda exhausted.]

Don't
these lil bundles of joy starting growing at the rate of sea monkeys?
I'm
out.
