churrascaria

jas, fee and e!

Rounded out the month of September with a couple weekend events. Tonight we celebrated my friend E's Birthday at a Brazilian Churrascaria Restaurant called Roda Viva. It was the first time for all of us to go to this particular one and unfortunately it wasn't as good as the one we went to before (scroll to the bottom). But regardless we had a good time filling up on Sangria, loads of meats and salads and catching up with friends that we haven't seen in ages.

If you've never been to a Churrascaria before, it is an all you can eat, one price dealy-o. You can get up and about to get salads and whatever other dishes they have. And then there are servers who come to your table with 3 foot long skewers of meat on them and distributes whatever you want onto your plate. The meats range from beef, pork, chicken hearts, chicken, ribs, sausages, prime rib, shrimp, in various cuts and portions. All you need to do is place those red and green pegs on the end of your table to an upright red or an upright green to signify whether you want the food to keep coming or for it to stop. Check out the last time we went to one of these places for the photos of the pegs.

joyce and steve :)

Coincidentally most of the ones I've been to before were all opened by Koreans too. I can't say that this restaurant is all that bad, especially if you never have had anything to compare it with before. From the looks of the place, they were doing damn good for a weekend crowd. I believe dinner was $19.99 not including drinks or dessert. If you're interested in trying it out, here's the address and phone number:

Roda Viva
1600 S Azusa Ave # 166
City Of Industry, CA 91748
(626) 839-9950
[inside the puente hills mall near the amc theatres]

It's a fun experience if you've never tried it before but be sure you go with a big manly man's meaty appetite.

the best friends

Happy Birthday E!

the couple and their dog

We all headed back home to cut the cake and take photos. Too bad I took a lot more photos of the evening with my Canon Elph than my digicam. Perhaps I'll post those later when I get it developed. It was a nice evening talking to old friends and new ones. Everyone seemed tired from the horrendous heatwave in Southern California. It's nearly October and it feels warmer than June!

I'm out.
