^ your model today is moi in an ann taylor tank top (fyi, the model is always going to be me unless i specify otherwise. because who else would be so kind as to indulge my little whims?) :p

what a difference 24 hours make. yesterday, it was raining like the world was going to end. shrouded in fog, wind and rain - i just stayed indoors the entire day entertaining myself with cable tv, s.w.a.t., and knitting. and oh yeah, an occasional nibble or two in between my slothlike retreats on the couch. i went out for a bite today and to get some stuff to fix a leaky faucet but you would not catch me at any shopping malls today. no siree, i firmly believe that going to after christmas sales will shorten your lifespan by a decade. :p

i finished a few more scarves though. the first one is shown above and i really love it. i want to make a few more in various color combinations. but since this was my first time trying out this diagonal stripe pattern, i just worked with some yarn that i had on hand. i'm in love with the rowan big wool yarn though. they are so soft, non-itchy and beautifully chunky. the scarf was done in a stockinette stitch so it curled up like a cobra when i was done with it. so i had to press it this morning to get it to lay flatter. i wonder if it will remain flat though since this stich has a tendency to end up like a fruit rollup.

the colors are actually a smoky gray (not black) and a rich blue. but as usual, in photos, the colors never appear as they truly are. and of course *i* never appear as i truly am. :p

rowan big wool yarn: heaven (1 skein) and smoky (1 skein)
size 17 US needles
cast on 16 stitches

^ i'm trying hard to position my hair in my face. :p

i don't know why but it's a coincidence that a couple of my previous scarves look like this one too. but to the trained eye, they are not the same. *cough* i got this nice rowan chunky print yarn to try out recently. it's the same as the biggy print (troll) yarn except smaller and thinner and less bulky. i just knitted it up in a standard garter stitch since it was already quite busy with its variagated colors and yarn width (it changes from thin to chunky and thin again). however i think i'll knit the next chunky print yarn that i have in another type of pattern though. the only thing is that it's not completely itch-free and so it may be tough for those who can't handle the itch factor. i'm planning to give this to my friend but not sure at all if she will like this. i do like the "organic" look of it though.

rowan chunky print yarn: deep end
size 13 US needles
cast on 16 stitches (i forgot!)
garter stitch
100% merino wool
84" long

i know some of you are sick and tired of seeing all this knitting going on at the aiyah workshop but hopefully by the time summer rolls around, i'll slow down and talk about other more significant issues. :p

^ pan fried seafood udon noodles :9

i forgot to mention last time that i got a couple of really nice knitting books from some fab gals for christmas. it really came just in time since i was wondering how to do certain things and the books answered my questions. i also received a really beautiful necklace as well in my fave color. *wink* it will go nicely with the other knitting projects i'm making. can't wait to wear it. thanks for the lovely presents everyone! :)

ok, i admit it, when i was making this scarf for donna.....i really wanted to keep it for myself because the color is AMAZING. you can't even see the true colors here but it's 2 shades of dark reds interwoven together. so soft, luscious, cozy! but i figured it's better to share the wealth than to hog it up for myself. afterall, how many scarves can i really wear? the pattern to this is exactly the same as the one i did for fishpimp but because of the color difference, the whole "feel" of the scarf is different. i have to say that i like this one better because it just plain....rocks. it rocks so much that i already ordered more of this color.

the weather here in LA is getting downright cold and tonight it's going to dip into the 30's -- on nights like these, i wish i could wear one of the scarves that i made. but too bad they are scattered to various recipients now. LOL! i really ought to get my ass moving and make one for myself before i freeze my ass off.

rowan big wool: bohemian
size 17 US needles
2x2 rib
