i know in recent days, i've been sounding awfully blue and in the dumps. i wish i could help it and not feel that way but it consumes me like flames burning a piece of paper. i feel like i've disintegrated somehow.
but this weekend was the first time in a long long long time that i've felt complacently at ease. well at least for a couple of days, which is much more than i could ever ask for right now.
[the boring play by play weekend update] maybe it was the fact that i saw my accountant and got our tax returns over and done with. we came out unscathed this year - which is a nice thing. it was rather painless and we got our taxes done in about an hour and a half. afterwards, we celebrated by going to cheesecake factory in pasadena. yes, not having to pay the government definitely calls for a celebration. *cough*
i rarely ever go to the cheesecake factory because i really hate crowds and they always make you wait an eternity. being that it was valentine's day, it was horribly packed with lovey dovey (ick) couples. TheGILW and i just went over to the bar area and grabbed one of those self seating tables - it's exactly the same as the restaurant and there's no wait.
we ordered the incredible grilled eggplant sandwich (top pic), cream of chicken and mushroom soup and evelyn's favorite pasta (this high carb plate was obviously not for me). i had forgotten how giant the portions are there and how good everything was. i'd love to eat there more often but the wait and the number of people usually is huge deterrent for a hermit such as myself.
afterwards, i took a stroll around old town pasadena for a little bit to knock off a few things on my wishlist. it was my luck that the things i sought out to get that day was available. my main goal was to hit patagonia and indulge in their avalanche sale. i ended up getting a fleecy persimmon colored arctic synchilla jacket. if you don't know already, i absolutely love the goods at patagonia. <looks around> i love it so much that i just bought 3 jackets in the past...3 weeks! :x shhhhhhhh.
i got the corded synchilla jacket in aquamarine (as shown), i got the el cap jacket in jazz blue (not as shown) and i got the arctic jacket in rustic orange (not as shown). nothing quite like buying really overpriced patagonia stuff at 30-50% off!
and i got a couple of belts from BR that i've had my eye on.
naturally, the BR model looks much better slinging the belt than i do. and since i didn't want to blind any of you out there for the rest of your life....well, you know.
i got the grommet belt in an emerald green suede (not as shown) and the chain link belt. both are very cool and very versatile.
