g shower

^ the glowing bride to be, G.

^ psst, you know it's an asian house with all the shoes removed at the entryway.

went to G's bridal shower this afternoon which was held at her girlfriend's house (who is very martha-like btw). this will be the first of a few showers i'll be attending this year and thus kicks off a series of weddings i'll be going to as well. i'm glad they are all evenly spaced out though (may, july, october, november) and not crazily one week after another. but i'm so happy to be able to attend this one as G has grown to be a very close friend of mine in these past 3 years.

^ the party favors

for the most part, going to these bridal showers where there is a mix bucket of people is sometimes good and sometimes not good. i've been to some fab ones where i've met new friends (such as G!) and then i've been to some where certain buckets just remain so ever cliqueish that i felt like i was in high school. i'm glad though that today's shower was one of those where everyone was SO nice and so cool. i met some new people and had a lot of fun.

^ one of many martha-esque floral arrangements. pretty!

the two hosts created a very nice buffet luncheon for us which consisted of: lox and bagels with cream cheese, fresh fruit, asparagus & mushroom frittata, baked french toast (which was like bread pudding really. yum!) served with warm maple syrup, sausages and an adorable chocolate layered cake decorated in the shape of a purse! the handles of the purse were made from chocolate malt balls but it didn't hold up by the time lunch was served.

luckily, i got a photo of it before it toppled.

the theme of the shower was a "purse" and even the invites were little purses, as well as the party favors etc. one of the games we played was a scavenger hunt in teams where we had to dig into our purses to see if we had anything that was on the list of things to find. for those who know me and know how much stuff i carry with me - they will know that my team probably won. and we did by a landslide. and i can tell you it's partially due to one item that i had that no other team had: socks.

yes, socks in my purse. i know you're thinking, WTF aiyahchick!?! hear me out on this.....because i knew i was going to an asian household for the shower where i would be required to remove my shoes, i thought it would be best to bring socks along just in case my feet gets cold or if i didn't want people to look at my un-pedicured feet. and lo and behold, that was one of the items on the list. i know most of you are thinking i'm insane for bringing socks along but you never know when your feet might need some coverage. and hell, it helped us win the game! :p

^ my team that won the purse scavenger hunt

^ the fiance under videotape scrutiny

the other game that we played was a mutiple choice questionaire on how well we know G and her fiance - answering based on what her fiance would say. since he couldn't be here in person, the hosts videotaped him with his answers and comments to each question. it was very funny and quite amusing.

all in all, a really enjoyable afternoon on a beautiful and warm los angeles sunday.

and oh yes, this is what i ended up wearing:

oliveish military jacket by mossimo that i had posted a photo of a few months ago, the lavender, brown and yellow floral print banana republic shirt from outfit a, gap long and lean jeans and my new oliveish bronze flats by dkny.

+ lavender colored swarovski flower pendant on brown leather cord

+ tattoo

currently listening to: jem, falling for you
