feeling blue
february 18, 2005

i'm feeling blue today, in more ways than one.

my stylist of many years, mareese, recently decided to venture out on her own. i didn't pry as to why or the details of things like that. i know each person has their own story and i respect their privacy. afterall, if someone wants to share something with you, they will do so on their own, in their own time.

but i paid a visit to her today as my roots were looking mighty hideous. when you're used to getting highlights and you get used to seeing your roots, you tend to not think they are so bad. until a stylist begins to scrutinize it that is. but regardless, it was time to get things touched up. last time i saw her, i mentioned to her that i wanted some blue put into my hair. she warned me that it would fade furiously fast. to me, fading fast = hard earned money down the drain. but hell, i only live once and i've been looking at the same blonde highlights for quite some time now - i needed a pick-me-upper - just in time for another milestone ahead.

so i went ahead with the plan. the hardest part was deciding where the blue should go. in the front hanging in my face? in the crown area? chunk it to one area on the side? little strips here and there? what? we finally decided to do it in two areas, one on either side of the crown area.

i'm quite pleased with the results. depending on how i wear my hair, either very little blue shows up (as in the first two photos above) or a whole lot gets revealed (as in the one directly above). now, it's just a matter of time before it fades - possibly into green? and on a sidenote, i didn't really get much of it cut tonight as i'm trying to (once again) grow it out to shoulder length.

for some reason, i feel so very ... anime character tonight.

it's almost kinky.

i'm not the hair product whore that i used to be back in the day. there are a few things that i may use from time to time, especially if my hair gets super dry. but tonight, i fell in love with a new product: cristalli liquidi illuminating serum by alfaparf. the smell is SO amazingly delicious and it makes your hair moisturized and all shiny. i HAD to have it. i think it's one of those products that if you walk past someone, and they get a whiff of your hair, they will come hither and fall in love with you.

and the bottle looking so very perfume-like doesn't hurt either.

i'm out.
