in the cards

i had lunch with a colleague today who knew that i'm in a funk of sorts. although i'm not advertising anything, i think it's obvious in my face that something is amiss. i've had countless people tell me how sad i look. i'm not sure if that's any sort of consolation. my colleague is quite spiritualistic and during happy hour one time, i saw her do some readings with tarot cards. i was sitting too far away to hear what all the commotion was about but when i was really young, i used to own my very own deck of tarot cards. i never figured out how to do an accurate reading though but i was sure that i was going to hell nonetheless for acquiring such a pagan object.
on our way back to the office, she insisted that she do a reading for me in the car. i made a face at her, NOT that i wasn't interested but sometimes i just rather not know anything about my future. i mean, i even shy away from the daily horoscopes.
but i figured, what the hell.
she instructed that i shuffle the deck all the i want until i feel like they have been fully shuffled to my liking. and then to focus on 1 question - one thing that i really want to know the answer to. she then told me to put the first 5 cards face down. 2 at the top row left to right. 3 on the bottom row left to right.
on the top row unveiled, the card on the left states SET YOUR SIGHTS HIGHER - Increase your standards and expect more for yourself. Don't settle!
the card to the right states MAKE A WISH - This is a magical moment. Make a wish and enjoy its manifestations.
although i cannot reveal what my question is nor what these two cards represent, i got major chickenskin (goosebumps).
on the bottom row, the card to the left represents "the past" WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS - It's important to only think about what you desire, not what you fear.
the center card represents "the now" SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE - Eliminate clutter from your home and work life to balance the flow of activities.
ok, this reading was getting a little too close to home and just plain eerie.
when she flipped over the next card which represents "the future" A NEW DAWN - The worst is now behind you, and positive new experiences are on the horizon - I pretty much had to pick up my jaw off the floor.
i also had to set aside two more cards to represent the very near future - amazingly enough both cards were about prosperity and money. TREASURE CHEST - An unforeseen windfall of new abundance comes to you now! and WAVES OF PROSPERITY - New abundance and exciting opportunities wash over you now.
man, i could use a nice bankroll in the near future to do all the things i want to make happen for my life. but how odd that both were about the same topic. hmm.
and finally, i had to select 4 more cards to represent what will be in my future.

can i just say how uncanny it is that all of these particular cards came up in reference to the question i was asking about? i wish i could go into detail on what each one represents in relation to the "bigger picture" but that's for me to know and to keep close to my heart.
even my colleague was amazed at the outcome of the cards dealt. of course i had to ask her if there are any BAD cards in the deck and she said of course there were. let's just say that i'm still taken aback by what the cards said.
i'm sure i'm going to hell now.
