crafty 2006
january 04, 2006

met up with luckykat linda and pudgeefeet caroline last week for lunch after my kung fu class. i was embarassingly ravenous by the time we met up for lunch. it was as if i was raised by a pack of wolves. i hope i didn't freak them out too much.

it's been nearly a year since i've seen either one of them. of course during this time of year when the weather is cold and damp, the best thing to warm ourselves up is with:

KOREAN FOOD!

but i've written enough about korean food here this past year that there's nothing to really show this time. okay okay....the real reason behind this is because i didn't take photos of food.

anyway...

2005 has really been a year of hibernation.

i just didn't....get out much. i didn't see too many friends nor people in general. i was just very much inside my own shell. i hardly even called anyone. i lost contact with friends both far away and those close by. this is one thing i do regret the most. it should be one of my commitments this year: to get back into see friends and contacting people more often. and of course meeting new friends as well.

it was a nice albeit short afternoon hanging out with these two crafty girls. we talked about cats & dogs, knitting, sewing, craft fairs, houses and of course their favorite topic: blythe dolls. they also swung by my house to say hello to snowbie and caroline was nice enough to bring along snacks for her. snowbie (as usual) won everyone over with her constant barking and hyper puppiness.

after talking to them and whetting my appetite for craftiness again....i decided that this year, i must knit a substantial article of clothing aside from those flat scarves. :p

don't say i don't have resolutions now!

i've always put off knitting sweaters or articles of clothing because 1. the yarn i like to use is usually pretty pricey and 2. i have no goddamn patience sometimes because i like instant gratification and 3. to make something in MY size will require a lot of yarn and time.

and this past winter, i've been inflicted with a drought of inspiration. and hence, no knitting of any kind for presents nor for myself. boo.

so i've been perusing a lot of my knitting books in these past couple of days and have found something i'd like to knit. it will cost me 7 skeins of yarn at $12.80 each = $89.60. <gulp>

now, i just hope i can understand the pattern correctly and not end up setting fire to the whole project.

here's to a crafty 2006 ahead. and hopefully plenty of stitch n bitch sessions with friends. and hell, while we're at it, i'd like to learn how to crochet.

dare to dream winnie. dare to dream.

currently listening to: some really old korean slow jams that i don't know the name of

i'm out.
