sore & spicy

in retrospect, i should have taken heed when the stinging soreness in the throat reared its ugly head again. but i thought to myself that i *just* got over it. how could i possibly get ill again? well, i did and in hindsight, should not have gone out. but my friend R was in town. i missed him last time when he had fresh ahi to pass out (for free no less!). and yes, i was sick that time too. boo.

^ thai iced tea, thai iced tea coffee mixed, iced chrysanthemum tea
so we agreed to meet up at banana bay for some thai food. i figured some hot and spicy food would be good to burn a hole in my throat. yeah, also not a good idea but it seemed ok at the time. it was the theraflu talking.

sometimes, it's hard to just arrange a time to meet with people because of life's constant interruptions. and believe me, it's not because of my schedule either (which most people think is constantly filled). a lot of times it's just because i'm overworked, overtired, oversicked. but i really try to work my schedule around everyone else's because i always like to see my friends and those i care about.
anyway, i know you don't want to read my fluff and so let's get on with the food photos. i know that's what you all came here for anyway...

^ thai fish cake patties with sweet chili cucumber sauce

^ fried leek cakes with a sweet spicy pungent sauce. this is definitely one
of my favorite dishes here. they also come steamed if you're watching your
waistline (which i obviously wasn't).

^ king noodle which is comprised of flat rice noodles, squid, crab and shrimp
in a tasty gravy sauce.

^ continental fried rice which consists of a bed of tomato based fried rice,
a hearty boneless portion of deep fried chicken (dark meat) and a sunny side
up egg on top to round it all out. plus a sweet chili sauce on the side. and
some cute hot dogs cut up quite nicely on the ends.

^ seafood rice soup is a staple whenever i go eat here. it's a homey sort
of dish that conjures up something you eat at home but the flavors of the
broth and the spicy chili sauce you put in it is anything but. now this is
something i should be eating all the time whenever i'm sick.
