happy 2008!
january 01, 2008

happy new year everyone! wishing you all an abundance of love, peace, happiness and good health. and of course a lil prosperity doesn't hurt either! ;) i'm personally hoping 2008 will be a very pivotal year for me. i've spent many years feeling like it's been yet again another dark year so hopefully 2008 will be something more uplifting with lots of new paths to take and opportunities ahead.

man, what a difference 24 hours make. i was in such a bummed out mood on new year's even thinking about snowbie and all the things going on that it literally made my brain crash. luckily TGILW took me out for korean bbq (dduk bok ssam style) and the smoke from the bbq pretty much took over my brain. perhaps it was food euphoria as well but i came home feeling better and not so down about life. then after sleeping a good amount of time, i woke up feeling calmer about things. i definitely didn't want to wake up with an ominous black cloud over my head on new year's day so i'm glad it cleared before the stroke of midnight.

for lunch, i headed to one of my local japanese faves, akasaka for a meal. i think i was one of the first customers there because i somehow got comped a free giant dynamite! maybe it was the old "let's give our first customer a dynamite to start us all off on a good year" type of thing? you think? or maybe they just know i eat there very often. ;) or maybe they know i have a flickr account helping them plug their restaurant? haha.
i've been going to akasaka again a lot in recent days. i used to go when i was much younger and then have been going on and off for the past 20 years. but only recently have i been going crazy lots. their sushi, especially their chirashi is ginormous! all their rolls are really big and sometimes it's scary if you're expecting delicate tiny pieces. but when you consider the price and what you're getting, it's a steal. seriously! same goes for the sashimi slices so order cautiously if you're planning to eat there. i know a lot of sushi/sashimi purists will poohpooh at the untraditional portions but hey, as long as the fish is cut expertly and is of fresh and tasty quality, what's not to love?
anyway, thought i'd start the year off with food because that's what makes the world go round. :)
happy new year to all of you! here's to a year of dedicated writing again.
let's hope! ;)
