may i just let out a big sigh of relief first? thanks.
started off this morning with a rather solemn walk at the park and then went to snowbie's vet to check on her many allergy problems and.....the lump. it turns out the wee fluffy one has an umbilical hernia. :T not sure if that's anything i should breathe a sigh of relief about but it's certainly much better than something like a tumor. i'm one of those who always thinks of the worst case scenario and when it comes to my furry child...it's especially difficult.
but her vet, Dr. T felt around and told me it's definitely not a tumor but a hernia the size of the tip of a pencil. somehow there's a hernia and fat has deposited into it making it fill up like a little balloon. he says as long as i cannot fit my pinky up into the hernia, it's all good. of course if i can fit my pinky up into her hernia then that would mean a surgery to close that baby up before the intestines fall through. :T yeah. but at this time, everything is a-ok.
whew. what a load that is lifted off my shoulder.

her infected paw however is still infected and needs antibiotics still and daily medicated cleaning. her ears have cleared up nicely. her honking/snorting sounds though require antihistamine daily for awhile. and ever since going on her allergen-free dogfood, she's lost about 10 ounces which is HUGE for a dog her size. we want to get her down another pound so she can be a bit healthier for her size and less stress on her luxating patella.
ANYWAY....i'm glad things were resolved somewhat today as it's been a stressful few days.
i can now really concentrate on planning my february trip to asia now. i put everything on hold until i could find out what was going on w/ snowbie.
